Bareboat Charters on San Francisco Bay – Our Fleet

Are you looking to bareboat charter on San Francisco Bay? Join our club! Membership is required in order to charter a vessel without a licensed captain aboard.

New members who are beginners can gain access to our fleet by completing ASA Certification Courses with Modern Sailing:

  • Completion of ASA 103, Basic Coastal Cruising certifies new sailors to charter Silver Fleet (30’ – 32’).
  • Sailors are certified to charter Gold (33’ – 37’) and Platinum (37’ – 44’) Fleets with completion of ASA 104, Bareboat Cruising.
  • To charter catamarans, completion of ASA 114, Cruising Catamaran is required.

Experienced sailors joining the club are not required to possess certifications but must submit a sailing resume and be able to successfully complete a Skills Checkout with one of our instructors.

Would love to go for a sail but membership isn’t for you? A Skippered Charter or an Introductory Sail might be a perfect fit.

For more information, contact us. We would be happy to answer any questions that you have about membership and chartering.

Prices are subject to change without notice.

Testimonials

  • Mike, Santa Rosa, California

All of the courses and my instructors (JT and Stan) were extremely professional and full of knowledge and experience. I found I was able to learn from their experiences beyond the scope of the courses, and look forward to future opportunities to do so. I would highly recommend Modern Sailing to anyone.

  • Steve Hood, Basic Coastal Cruising

I would definitely recommend Modern Sailing to anyone who is interested in learning to sail the right way.

  • John Clark

Every aspect of Modern Sailing - training, syllabus, course materials, quality of the boats, quality of the instructors, and the very friendly and helpful staff - exceeded my expectations. Modern Sailing has a first class sailing program in an environment with challenging winds and currents. I look forward to coming back to charter a boat and certainly plan to continue my sailing training.
