Why These Reciprocal Programs Matter:

Modern Sailing provides yacht club members with benefits designed to maximize their sailing experience. Depending on the individual club, these benefits may include discounts on MSC courses and initiation fees, and more. At Modern Sailing, we believe the true spirit of sailing lies in exploration and community. Just as a sailboat needs to venture beyond its harbor, our members can now enjoy the experience of sailing in diverse environments and discovering new sailing grounds. By fostering friendships within renowned yacht clubs, we enrich a deeper sense of belonging within the Bay Area's vibrant sailing community.

Our reciprocal programs may grant exclusive access to enjoy club facilities, including docks, clubhouses, and social events, enabling members to watch races from prime vantage points, host events, and create lasting memories. Moreover, these collaborations may offer potential discounts on reciprocal club memberships and exclusive invitations to special events. Belonging to Modern Sailing now means extending your community and appreciation for the beauty and diversity of the San Francisco Bay, creating a wider network of sailors and opportunities.

Here are some snaps of Our Saturday, August 20, 2022 Modern Sailing Expedition with Captain Robert Bivin, who was outstanding. Please convey photos and thanks to him. He is an outstanding individual, leader and sailing instructor. His knowledge and experience made us all feel safe and our Farallones Day Trip educational and just amazing.

  • Steve Hood, Basic Coastal Cruising

I would definitely recommend Modern Sailing to anyone who is interested in learning to sail the right way.

I took ASA 101 with them recently. They have the best customer service I've ever seen! I mistyped my address when I signed up online so didn't receive the textbook. I called and the lady immediately sent me another copy! Everyone at the club is super friendly.

Captain Jeff Cathers is really cool. I had such a great time on the Farallones Day Trip. It was actually my very best day of 2020. Thank you so much for coordinating the trip.

  • Emma & George Stubbs, Sausalito

We just took our ASA 106 at a school in Rhode Island as we prepare for 6 months of cruising in the Caribbean. The class was great, but more than anything it made us really appreciate the quality of teaching and rigor at Modern Sailing. Even though we were the newest to sailing, the group seemed to think that we had the best fundamentals. We felt very well prepared and we see why Modern Sailing has the reputation it does.
