Parking Information

  • Modern Sailing Sausalito - Marina Plaza Harbor: Park in Parking Lot B within the first two rows facing the marina. (Lot B is the large parking lot on the east side of the Marinship office complex.) Leaving your vehicle in Lot A (the small lot adjacent to the south side of our office) may result in your vehicle being towed. Please acquire a parking pass from the Modern Sailing office and leave it face-up on your vehicle dashboard.

  • Modern Sailing Sausalito - Clipper Yacht Harbor: You and your guests are welcome to park in any open space available in the marina. We encourage our guests to utilize parking as close to our main office as possible to provide the best access to our fleet. Note: The Clipper Yacht Harbor parking lot gate closes at 9:00pm. Multi-day charters: You will need to get a parking pass from the Clipper Yacht Harbor Office (not the Modern Sailing office). The Clipper office is across the lot from FISH! Restaurant. They are open Mon - Fri 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (closed for lunch between 12:00 - 1:00 PM, closed Sat and Sun).

  • Modern Sailing Berkeley: The boatyard has some parking availability, especially on the weekends. Just drive on in, between the boats on struts. Public parking is also available around the round-about/cul-de-sac at the end of the road, just past the boat yard, overlooking the Bay. The marina parking lot/boat launch lot is right next to the boat yard. We have a limited number of parking passes available for these spaces.

  • Sleeping in your vehicle in the parking lot is not permitted. If your vehicle has overnight accommodations on board (such as an RV or camper/van) and you are participating in a multi-day course, please notify Modern Sailing staff as we may need to make special arrangements.

The class was terrific. I know you must get many compliments about your sailing instructors...But I must tell you that Robert is outstanding. Having taught SCUBA, I really appreciate the way he is so sensitive to all on board, dealing with each so well, knowing quickly their strengths and weaknesses making each feel special and cared for.

Captain Jeff Cathers is really cool. I had such a great time on the Farallones Day Trip. It was actually my very best day of 2020. Thank you so much for coordinating the trip.

I try to get out on the water every week: out the Gate, around Angel, up Raccoon - I love it all. After 18 years as a member of OCSC in Berkeley, I learned to sail the bigger boats at Modern by taking ASA 103 and 104. My ASA 104 instructor Dave Russell was terrific. Also, Captain Bill Moreland has been very generous in giving informal advice whenever I’ve asked him. Thanks to Bill, I no longer have any anxiety about docking!

The Full Moon Sail with Skipper Bob Gutsgell was Ah-Mayzing!! The group dynamic was lovely and the views spectacular. I can't say enough good things about the experience. Thanks so much for the wonderful Club Sails, they are really great.

Every aspect of Modern Sailing - training, syllabus, course materials, quality of the boats, quality of the instructors, and the very friendly and helpful staff - exceeded my expectations. Modern Sailing has a first class sailing program in an environment with challenging winds and currents. I look forward to coming back to charter a boat and certainly plan to continue my sailing training.
