Reuven Trabin’s journey into the world of sailing began in the late 1970s aboard simple sailboats on the warm waters of Israel, where the thrill of harnessing the wind ignited an enduring passion for the sport. Over the decades, particularly after relocating to the Bay Area, Reuven navigated the challenges and opportunities of career and fatherhood, eventually formalizing his skills, and deepening his interest in sportboat sailing.
With completion of our February Club Skipper Clinic, Modern Sailing proudly welcomes four new Club Skippers into our Club Sail program, marking another milestone for our growing community.

In November, Modern Sailing graduated a new batch of Club Skippers from our most recent Club Skipper Clinic. Meet three of our newest Club Skippers – Rik Williams, Christopher Dann, and Bill Lawler!
Heather Stewart is one of Modern Sailing's outstanding Club Skippers and a leader among our sailing community. She admits it was a long struggle with her self-confidence to go from white-knuckle dinghy steering to catamaran cruising and encouraging others to take the helm.

The summer after eighth grade, Lee lived on a small lake in southern Indiana. As a born "outdoors person," the opportunity to sail the lake with two cute boys on their Hobie Cat was not one to be passed up.
Living in landlocked Idaho can't keep Modern Sailing member Andy Hoobing away from sailing. Nearly once a month, Andy, often with family, flies across at least three states to go sailing on San Francisco Bay... or farther.
Among Modern Sailing club members, William Le was our most frequent charterer of 2021. It's obvious from his course and charter history that he's fallen in love with sailing. You might be surprised to learn that William began sailing only last September 2020. He writes:
