San Francisco Bay Sailing School

Modern Sailing offers everything you need to achieve your sailing goals. Our American Sailing Association curriculum is internationally-recognized, teaching adult students the range of skills from basic crew participation to achieving confidence to sail the coast, cross oceans, or charter a boat internationally. In addition to the cruising boat education path available at our Sausalito and Berkeley locations, the Berkeley location also offers an exciting sportboat program. In addition to the ASA Core Curriculum, we offer a suite of Sailing Clinics to assist students in refining their skills. Explore the beautiful California Coast and experience ocean sailing with our Advanced Coastal Cruising course, or learn to be a racer with our Racing Clinic. Modern Sailing provides resources you'll need to make your sailing dreams come true.

    I love sailing in the San Francisco Bay and greatly appreciate everything that MSC has to offer, the classes, clinics, club sails, racing and charters. I enjoy our supportive sailing community and use every opportunity to spend time on the water. After obtaining the certifications from MSC I did my first charter in Croatia in 2022 with my family. It was amazing and we’re looking forward to returning soon!

    I've taken two classes at MSS&C and was very happy with the program. This is also a great club with lots of opportunities for camaraderie and practice on the water. The boats in the fleet are fantastic and kept in tip-top shape. I highly recommend for all sailors and would-be sailors!
