Sail Tahiti 2024 - The Society Islands of French Polynesia

September 23 to October 3, 2024

Next fall, set sail with Modern Sailing where the cerulean waters of the South Pacific cradle a mosaic of mystical islands awaiting your exploration and wonder.

Driven along by brisk tradewinds between the picturesque Society Islands of Bora Bora, Huahine, Raiatea, and Taha’a, you'll unfurl a new chapter of beauty and adventure with every sail.

Whether swimming vivid coral reefs teeming with marine life or strolling white sand beaches, verdant landscapes, charming towns, and ancient ruins, these islands present a kaleidoscope of unique encounters.

As each day draws to a close, indulge in tantalizing local flavors under a glorious sunset while being mesmerized by a traditional fire dance and the stirring songs of the South Pacific.

From the vibrant underwater world to the cultural richness ashore, this seafaring odyssey is an inspiring fusion of beauty, adventure, and friendship in the heart of the South Pacific. Your memories of these days will linger, painted with the brilliant hues of Tahiti's blue waters and golden sunsets and echoing the rhythms of its ocean waves and enchanting melodies.

Why sail the Society Islands of Tahiti with a Modern Sailing flotilla?

The Society Islands of French Polynesia are made up of spectacular islands that form an archipelago in the South Pacific Ocean that is in same time zone as Hawaii. It’s just a 9-hour journey out of San Francisco for you to discover and experience some of the most beautiful islands on earth.

This region offers a wonderful blend of brisk open ocean sailing between islands and amazing sailing conditions within the confines of the coral reefs that surround these islands. Enjoy balmy temperatures, tropical trade winds, and warm, crystal-clear water year-round. This island chain offers amazing scenery and an abundance of sea and shore adventures. Imagine those overwater hotels you’ve always wanted to visit in Bora Bora, built on stilts over aquarium like lagoons with tropical fish and giant yet placid manta rays gracefully swimming in the crystal-clear waters below - but instead, you are on a modern yacht where you’re always over the water and the scenery is changing every day.

On this trip you can enjoy snorkeling off the remote reefs that surround these paradise-like islands, with kayaking, unique cuisine, excellent diving, and exploring while enjoying the relaxed pace of “island time.” Delight in brisk sailing on bright, sunny days over long stretches of blue water with steady trade winds filling your sails, an occasional refreshing rain squall, and picturesque rainbows.

Joining a Modern Sailing Global Destinations flotilla is a great way to gain experience cruising on unfamiliar waters. Whether joining the flotilla as crew on a captained boat or as skipper of your own bareboat, this adventure will help you prepare for your first (or next!) vacation charter or long-distance cruise while you enjoy the camaraderie, reassurance, and safety of sailing with a friendly group lead by our professional captains.

This flotilla offers only 6 cabins aboard 2 captained catamarans. Three bareboats will also be available.

Testimonials

  • John Kratochvil, Oregon

I would like to compliment Stan Lander for his coaching, counseling and teaching Heavy Weather Offshore Sailing. Stan was very accommodating to all of the student's interests and shared his many years of insight on handling the boat in heavy seas. I would certainly recommend Stan and this course to sheltered waters sailors. My confidence in handling a boat of this size was certainly enhanced by the experience.

  • Jessica Zittere, Member

The Full Moon Sail with Skipper Bob Gutsgell was Ah-Mayzing!! The group dynamic was lovely and the views spectacular. I can't say enough good things about the experience. Thanks so much for the wonderful Club Sails, they are really great.

  • Ray Arceneaux

The vessel was clean and in fine condition - very nice boat for training, well-equipped.
