Sail Greece - the Northern Ionian Sea Flotilla 2027

September 25 - October 02, 2027

Discover Emerald Isles, Ancient Castles, and Sun-Drenched Bays of the Northern Ionian Sea

Prepare to journey through the mythical waters of the Mediterranean September 25 to October 2, 2027. Modern Sailing is thrilled to present our Autumn 2027 Global Destinations adventure: 7 day flotilla sailing between the islands of Corfu and Paxos and the Greek mainland.

While Modern Sailing last explored Greek waters in 2016, this marks our very first trip to the Northern Ionian Archipelago. Walk Venetian-influenced cobblestone streets, anchor past centuries-old stone fortresses, drop the hook in the turquoise coves of Lakka, and unwind along peaceful quays of Benitses, Petriti, Sivota Mourtos, Parga, and Mandraki Harbor.

Trip Information Session Announcement - Sunday, December 13, 2027

Join trip lead Captain Tyler Cobbett and School Director Captain Robert Bivin at Modern Sailing Sausalito - Clipper Yacht Harbor (400 Harbor Drive, Suite D in Sausalito) for an Information Session. Meet your fleet captains, review the proposed itinerary, and get early enrollment before it goes public the following morning.

RSVP to the December 13, 2026 Info Session to secure your spot. Questions? Contact us at globaldestinations@modernsailing.com.

Discover the Ports & Anchorages

Your adventure begins and ends at Gouvia Marina, the premier Sunsail/Moorings charter base on Corfu (Kerkyra), offering seamless travel with flights arriving directly into Corfu International Airport (CFU). Take some time to explore the dramatic backdrops of Venetian fortresses, grand palaces, and vibrant cobblestone promenades. Wander through the winding alleyways, sipping espresso at lively streetfront cafes and soaking in centuries of Mediterranean heritage.

Sailing from Gouvia Marina, our itinerary weaves south along the eastern quay stopping first at Benitses, a charming village blending traditional harbor life with waterfront dining, and Petriti, a quite fishing harbor famous for relaxed quayside tavernas and fresh-caught seafood.

Crossing the sheltered channel to the mainland, we'll make port at Sivota Mourtos and Parga. In Sivota, emerald hills drop into hidden coves and sparkling blue lagoons an idyllic playground for afternoon swimming, paddleboarding, and anchor-side relaxation. Farther south in Parga, colorful houses spill down hillside cliffs crowned by an 11th century Venetian castle.

From the mainland, we’ll set a course for Paxos, dropping anchor in the breathtaking horseshoe cove of Lakka (population 164!), where crystal-clear waters are bordered by ancient olive groves. To cap off our journey before returning to base, we’ll call at historic Mandraki Harbor, nestled directly beneath the Old Fortress, offering a memorable final evening anchored under the stars.

Life on the Quay: Culture, Cuisine, and Med Mooring

Sailing in Greece is as much about the destination as it is about the vibrant waterfront lifestyle. Trip lead Capt. Tyler Cobbett has thoughtfully orchestrated the 7-day route designed for unhurried exploration, averaging comfortable 13 nautical mile passages per day. This gentle pace leaves ample time each afternoon for swimming, snorkeling in clear blue waters, or hitting scenic hiking trails along the cliffs of Paxos and Parga.

Feast on legendary Mediterranean cuisine, sampling exceptional 'Corfiot' cooking alongside classic dishes. Gather over tables filled with fresh-caught seafood in Petriti, slow-roasted lamb with wild oregano, and crisp Greek salads featuring local feta and olive oil, all accompanied by refreshing local wines or chilled ouzo.

Reaching these picturesque harbors is half the fun, and this voyage provides the perfect opportunity to build your confidence on the water. Under the expert, hands-on guidance of Captains Tyler Cobbett and Robert Bivin, you’ll master unique Mediterranean mooring techniques: from stern-to quay docking right up to the taverna steps, to securing long-line shore ties in secluded coves.

I would like to compliment Stan Lander for his coaching, counseling and teaching Heavy Weather Offshore Sailing. Stan was very accommodating to all of the student's interests and shared his many years of insight on handling the boat in heavy seas. I would certainly recommend Stan and this course to sheltered waters sailors. My confidence in handling a boat of this size was certainly enhanced by the experience.

It has been wonderful sailing with MSC over the years. Please extend my thanks to the owners, management, and staff for unrequited professionalism and high standards in a charter fleet. I have sailed with several in my years and none nearly hold a candle to the quality of business and staff at Modern Sailing.
