This year has seen unprecedented growth for Modern Sailing. We have expanded to three distinct locations, introduced beautiful new vessels to the fleet, and welcomed fantastic new members to our clubs. Amidst all this exciting expansion, our staff has put in some serious heavy lifting. To celebrate the team’s incredible collaboration, dedication, and fantastic attitudes through it all, we decided it was time to close the laptops, climb out of the engine compartment, and get out on the water together. On July 9th, 2026, the teams from across our three harbors, MSC Sausalito Clipper, MSC Sausalito Marina Plaza, and MSC Berkeley, came together for an unforgettable day of sailing, camaraderie, and spectacular dining on the San Francisco Bay.
While the event was officially scheduled as a relaxed, casual cruise- rather than a team building regatta challenge, you can't put three boatloads of passionate sailors on the water without a little friendly competition sparking up!
Representing our newest headquarters, the crew from Modern Sailing Sausalito Clipper boarded Tiny Bubbles (Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349). Meanwhile, the Sausalito Marina Plaza team claimed Bora Bora (a Beneteau Oceanis 34.1), and the Berkeley crew set wing on Fog Chaser (Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349).
Our destination? The historic Corinthian Yacht Club (CYC) in Tiburon.
A Perfect Day on the Bay
The weather absolutely cooperated, delivering classic, stunning Bay conditions. The sun was bright, and while the winds were a little shifty, it only added to the fun of trimming sails and finding the best angles to Tiburon.
As they closed in on the harbor, the crew aboard Tiny Bubbles made it clear they were playing to win the "commute" to dinner. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349 from Modern Sailing Sausalito Clipper Yacht Harbor included President/CEO Leigh Hunt, Master Scheduler Kim Richards, Fleet Technician Karl Mattson, CSRs Jacqueline Brevik and Jan Ryan. Modern Sailing Sausalito Marina Plaza Harbor took Bora Bora with Quartermaster Michael Carney, GM Dan Bailey, Fleet Technician Gabe Baumann and CSRs Mari Villanueva, Leah Thompson, and Angelina Guardino. Modern Sailing Berkeley included Fleet Director Philip Strause, Scheduler Sage Behan, Fleet Technicians Travis Herb, José Cruz and Daniel Cortes, CSRs Jayson Fennimore and Nick Abston took Fog Chaser over to CYC.

Five-Star Dining & Stunning Views
After securing the boats, the team gathered on the CYC patio, which offered a breathtaking, panoramic view overlooking the Bay. The stunning atmosphere was matched only by an incredible, crowd-pleasing menu.

"The dining atmosphere was stunning," Jacqueline shared. "An outstanding menu including salmon, scallops, key lime pie, and even colored cotton candy. The food was so amazing many would go back just for that in a heartbeat."
Between the fantastic sailing, the gorgeous sunset views, and sharing stories across our different harbor teams, it was the perfect reminder of why we love what we do. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and made this team-building event such a memorable success!
