Modern Sailing has been awarded "Adjunct Organization" status as identified in the Berkeley Yacht Club bylaws. An Adjunct Organization is a boating-related organization such as a sailing school, school sailing team, and another yacht club whose members may apply for Adjunct Membership. This means that Modern Sailing club members can now apply for Adjunct Membership with BYC.
BYC members also benefit from the relationship between BYC and Modern. BYC members can enroll in Modern Sailing's ASA courses and pay the discounted member rate.
In summary:
Modern Sailing Members
- Can apply to join BYC with an Adjunct Membership, no initiation fee, only $144 annually
- As an adjunct member, receive reciprocal benefits being offered by other local yacht clubs with reciprocal relationships
- Receive $150 off the Membership Initiation Fee to become a "full" BYC member
BYC Members
- Receive the discounted member pricing on Modern Sailing's ASA Courses on either Cruising Boats or Sportboats
- Receive a $150 discount off Membership Initiation Fee to become a Modern Sailing member and gain access to Club Sails and Bareboat Chartering
