Sophia

Silver Fleet
Catalina 30

Sophia is a Catalina 30 in our Sausalito Silver Plus Fleet. The Catalina 30 is one of the most popular cruising sailboats of this size in the world. Catalina Yachts built this model in one design conformity for over 20 years - a true testimonial to the design. With a 10' 10" beam, ample displacement of over 10,000 lbs, hull speed of 6.7 knots, and a roomy cockpit, Sophia is a great day sailor for crews of up to 6 people. Her fold-away cockpit table and plush interior are among her best features. Sophia's well-appointed interior makes her a cozy overnighter for 4 to 5 sailors.

Sturdily built, fun, and easy to sail, this sailboat is an ideal choice for learning, practicing, and enjoying sailing on San Francisco Bay.

All of the courses and my instructors (JT and Stan) were extremely professional and full of knowledge and experience. I found I was able to learn from their experiences beyond the scope of the courses, and look forward to future opportunities to do so. I would highly recommend Modern Sailing to anyone.

The class was terrific. I know you must get many compliments about your sailing instructors...But I must tell you that Robert is outstanding. Having taught SCUBA, I really appreciate the way he is so sensitive to all on board, dealing with each so well, knowing quickly their strengths and weaknesses making each feel special and cared for.

The office staff was very accommodating in meeting my availability.

I love sailing in the San Francisco Bay and greatly appreciate everything that MSC has to offer, the classes, clinics, club sails, racing and charters. I enjoy our supportive sailing community and use every opportunity to spend time on the water. After obtaining the certifications from MSC I did my first charter in Croatia in 2022 with my family. It was amazing and we’re looking forward to returning soon!

The vessel was clean and in fine condition - very nice boat for training, well-equipped.
