Chinook

Gold Fleet
J/105

Chinook is a J/105 in our Sausalito Gold Fleet. Prepare for an exhilarating sail aboard this meticulously upgraded J/105. Chinook boasts a suite of upgrades that seamlessly blend high performance with effortless handling. With a deep fin keel (draft of 6.5 feet) and responsive design, Chinook delivers the thrilling experience these boats are renowned for.

The spacious cockpit is large, protected by a dodger, to ensure comfort and visibility. The intuitive layout and upgraded rigging, including a slab reefing system and 10:1 low-friction outhaul, make her remarkably easy to handle. Whether you're trimming the main from the oversized wheel, engaging the autopilot for effortless sailing shorthanded, or enjoying a picnic at anchor, Chinook promises an unforgettable adventure.

The roller-furling jib and inboard engine add simplicity to sailing the J/105. Like the J/24, the J/105 offers the usual sail-shaping controls like the cunningham, outhaul, and adjustable backstay. Below deck, you'll find all the essentials for a comfortable day on the water: comfortable settees, a marine head, VHF radio, and B&G electronics.

Chinook is more than just a boat; she's an invitation to experience the pure joy of sailing.

The class was terrific. I know you must get many compliments about your sailing instructors...But I must tell you that Robert is outstanding. Having taught SCUBA, I really appreciate the way he is so sensitive to all on board, dealing with each so well, knowing quickly their strengths and weaknesses making each feel special and cared for.

I took ASA 101 with them recently. They have the best customer service I've ever seen! I mistyped my address when I signed up online so didn't receive the textbook. I called and the lady immediately sent me another copy! Everyone at the club is super friendly.

The vessel was clean and in fine condition - very nice boat for training, well-equipped.

I would like to compliment Stan Lander for his coaching, counseling and teaching Heavy Weather Offshore Sailing. Stan was very accommodating to all of the student's interests and shared his many years of insight on handling the boat in heavy seas. I would certainly recommend Stan and this course to sheltered waters sailors. My confidence in handling a boat of this size was certainly enhanced by the experience.

The meeting room was quite adequate and the location most convenient, but the course outline and instruction were outstanding. Modern Sailing is fortunate to have such a well organized instructor in Mr. Stan Lander who teaches very well from a rich professional background. Mr. Lander was generous with his time and patiently in helping students who needed more attention or time in understanding various aspects of the curriculum.
