Charter Beneteau Oceanis 38 | Modern Sailing school

Survivor

Platinum Fleet
Beneteau Oceanis 38

Survivor is a Beneteau Oceanis 38 featuring an in-mast furling mainsail and a roller-furling, self-tacking jib, making her an easy boat to sail with short-handed crews.

The Beneteau Oceanis 38 offers a substantial performance-to-habitability ratio for this size of cruising yacht. Length and beam on the waterline are extended to maximize both living space and stability under sail. With three cabins, outfitted in-line galley, and head with a separate enclosed shower, she can accommodate up to 6 guests overnight.

Survivor has a large cockpit with twin steering stations, dual rudder configuration, and a drop-down swim deck. For day sails, her comfort rating is 8 people.

I would like to compliment Stan Lander for his coaching, counseling and teaching Heavy Weather Offshore Sailing. Stan was very accommodating to all of the student's interests and shared his many years of insight on handling the boat in heavy seas. I would certainly recommend Stan and this course to sheltered waters sailors. My confidence in handling a boat of this size was certainly enhanced by the experience.

I love sailing in the San Francisco Bay and greatly appreciate everything that MSC has to offer, the classes, clinics, club sails, racing and charters. I enjoy our supportive sailing community and use every opportunity to spend time on the water. After obtaining the certifications from MSC I did my first charter in Croatia in 2022 with my family. It was amazing and we’re looking forward to returning soon!

All of the courses and my instructors (JT and Stan) were extremely professional and full of knowledge and experience. I found I was able to learn from their experiences beyond the scope of the courses, and look forward to future opportunities to do so. I would highly recommend Modern Sailing to anyone.

Thumbs up to (Club Skipper) Geoff (Love) and his wife Laura. I went on my first Club Sail on Sunday, January 18, 2026. They were terrific!

Every aspect of Modern Sailing - training, syllabus, course materials, quality of the boats, quality of the instructors, and the very friendly and helpful staff - exceeded my expectations. Modern Sailing has a first class sailing program in an environment with challenging winds and currents. I look forward to coming back to charter a boat and certainly plan to continue my sailing training.
