Coast Guard Courses

Modern Sailing offers everything you need to achieve your sailing goals. Our American Sailing Association curriculum is internationally-recognized, teaching adult students the range of skills from basic crew participation to achieving confidence to sail the coast, cross oceans, or charter a boat internationally. In addition to the cruising boat education path available at our Sausalito and Berkeley locations, the Berkeley location also offers an exciting sportboat program. In addition to the ASA Core Curriculum, we offer a suite of Sailing Clinics to assist students in refining their skills. I've taken two classes at MSS&C and was very happy with the program. This is also a great club with lots of opportunities for camaraderie and practice on the water. The boats in the fleet are fantastic and kept in tip-top shape. I highly recommend for all sailors and would-be sailors!

We just took our ASA 106 at a school in Rhode Island as we prepare for 6 months of cruising in the Caribbean. The class was great, but more than anything it made us really appreciate the quality of teaching and rigor at Modern Sailing. I love sailing in the San Francisco Bay and greatly appreciate everything that MSC has to offer, the classes, clinics, club sails, racing and charters. I enjoy our supportive sailing community and use every opportunity to spend time on the water. After obtaining the certifications from MSC I did my first charter in Croatia in 2022 with my family. It was amazing and we’re looking forward to returning soon!
