Peter returns to Modern Sailing to teach classes and skipper charter boats, having retired from managing commercial property and harbors in San Francisco and right here at Marina Plaza Harbor. He started sailing at the age of eight on his dad’s 24 foot sailboat, often spending weekends in Tiburon, sailing from the South Bay to Coyote Point. After college at UC Berkeley, he expanded his sailing resume with a USCG License and his first job at Lake Tahoe. This was followed with three years running charter boats in Tortola, BVI, working on tugs on San Francisco Bay, and eventually landing a harbor job at South Beach-SF and in Sausalito.
Next came a teaching credential and a move into high school coaching tennis. Over the years, Peter has delivered boats, done a few races to Hawaii and Mexico, and continues to sail with his friends and family. When he’s not sailing, you can find him on the tennis courts or on the mountain riding a bike. And yes he still owns that little 24’ - celebrating 50 years of sailing on the bay!
