Modern Sailing
Academy strives to provide an exceptional learning environment
for women sailors, and we have several programs to get you
involved. Our programs are led by MSA instructor Captain Suzette
Smith.
Our women-only Basic Keelboat or Basic Coastal Cruising courses
(see below) will teach you everything you need to know to
begin chartering boats up to 33' on your own.
Our Women's Sailing Group meets once a month for informal
daysails open to women of all experience levels, so it's a
great chance to get out on the water and see if sailing is
for you. Best of all, MSA provides a discounted rate on our
fleet of deluxe cruising yachts, so the sails are a very economical
way to get out on the water in style. Email mollie@modernsailing.com
for details.
Captain Smith has been teaching sailing at MSA for the last
eight years and has a broad background in the maritime industry.
A veteran of numerous offshore and coastal passages, she was
a member of the historic first all womens' America's Cup Team
'America3' in 1995. Captain Smith also sailed across the South
Pacific without instruments onboard the famous sailing canoe
"Hokule'a."
