For those who already have strong sailing skills and are seeking American Sailing Association (ASA) certification, Modern Sailing
Academy offers a sensible alternative to our level one class. The Basic Coastal Cruising Challenge offers suitable candidates the opportunity to demonstrate their sailing skill to BCC standards and take both the Basic Keelboat and Basic Coastal Cruising examinations. Once candidates successfully complete both the practical and written portions of this challenge, they are then eligible to take advanced ASA classes and charter boats up to 32' in length from our fleet.

The BCC Challenge includes:
1) ASA textbook and logbook
2) Both written tests (basic keelboat and basic coastal cruising)
3) Three hour check out on a 32' boat
4) BKB and BCC certifications

Cost is $335 and can be scheduled by calling the office.
