After learning
sailing fundamentals in Basic Keelboat, you're now ready to
refine and expand your skill sets in preparation to charter
32' sailboats on your own. Our Basic Coastal Cruising
class is taught onboard a 32-foot sailboat with an inboard diesel
engine and wheel steering. With 25 knots of wind on a daily
basis, strong currents, and heavy shipping traffic, San Francisco
Bay offers one of the most challenging venues anywhere. At the
end of this class, you'll have the experience and skills needed
to enjoy sailing in such conditions with confidence. You're
now welcome to join us for Adventure
Sailing in our many exotic destinations and obtain your
advanced certifications (Bareboat Charter, Advanced Coastal
Cruising) at the same time.
The Basic Coastal Cruising curriculum includes docking and
maneuvering under power, heaving-to, crew overboard recovery,
reefing (both underway and hove-to), correcting for weather
helm, current and tide analysis, basic navigation, and chart
work. Upon successful completion of the class, students
are eligible to charter boats up to 32 in length
from our fleet.
